THE REQUIREMENTS

·        Develops business plans that support the Industrial market within the assigned territory.

·        Works with appropriate sales personnel to develop tactical plans that implement the district plan.

·        Develops assigned sales territory business plans with suppliers that district marketing has identified as strategic.

·        Implements the sales management process, utilizing sales rep business plans, pre-call plans, and post call coaching debriefs. 

·        Establishes annual sales and gross margin rates for the Industrial market applicable sales reps or other sales personnel within the district.

·        Evaluates industry and business trends for potential impact on the district, identifies key business opportunities and potential threats within the assigned sales territory.

·        Develops and maintains relationships with key customers and suppliers so that the assigned sales territory is properly positioned within the marketplace.  Provides guidance and support in the retention of profitable business.

·        Ensures a consistent focus on delivering high quality customer service.

·        Clearly and concisely communicates appropriate business information and performance expectations to the assigned sales territory on a regular basis. 

·        Ensures the assigned sales territory has implemented effective recruiting, staffing, employee development, performance management, and succession planning programs in assigned area. 

·        Assists in the development and implementation of appropriate tools and/or training programs within the assigned sales territory to support Industrial business growth.

·        Responsible for ensuring the Company has implemented effective recruiting, staffing, employee development, performance management, and succession planning programs in assigned sales territory.

·        Manages and safeguards the Company's assets by ensuring that policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are enforced at all times. Ensures all applicable laws and regulations are followed.

·        Oversees and monitors the prompt and effective resolution of legal, sales, marketing, financial, operations, and human resources matters.

·        Supports and drives the Company's commitment to continuous improvement.

·        Perform other duties as assigned



SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Education: H. S. Diploma or G.E.D. required. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.  

Experience: Typically, a minimum of five years of progressively responsible business or wholesale distribution industry experience is required for Level 1. Consideration for higher levels will be based on other factors, including but not limited to the level of experience, current revenue, and size of territory.

Knowledge: Knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry, Knowledge of the Company's business, customers, suppliers, and external market conditions, Knowledge of the Industrial (vertical market), Knowledge of financial analysis methods and techniques, Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and practices

The Requirements

The Responsibilities


* Exceeds expectations in revenue growth and account profitability

* Cultivates existing customer relationships while developing new business to expand Graybar?s Industrial market share

* Provides technical expertise to sales organization, including joint call activity for strategic accounts consisting of formal presentation and product demonstration

* Fosters relationships with MRO, OEM, System Integrators &amp; Panel Builders, while establishing significance and credibility within the Specification and Engineering Community

* Provide pricing, quotations and formal proposals for business opportunities

* Assists in developing forecasts, budgets, and operating plans for sales territory growth

* Identifies opportunities and drives the sales and marketing of control &amp; automation products, variable frequency drives, power monitoring products, and related software with new and existing customers

* Specifies products and assists in the design of complex systems and services solutions to design engineers, systems integrators, OEM?s, end users and industrial contractors to meet customer requirements

* Provides technical support and services to customers for the use, operation, and maintenance of control &amp; automation products, variable frequency drives, power monitoring equipment, and related software for optimal plant performance

* Provides internal and external customer training on the technical details of control &amp; automation products, variable frequency drives, power monitoring equipment, and other related products and software

* Develops relationships with Graybar?s strategic suppliers for long-term stability and support of our Industrial customer base

* Remains current on industry trends, products and solutions to support  industrial growth

* Takes a pro-active role in reviewing and establishing local inventory levels to support our Industrial Control &amp; Automation customer base





 

 

 

Education/Work Experience

 

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.  Five years' experience with progressive sales and marketing experience preferred.

THE REQUIREMENTS





* Develop, coordinate and execute strategies to capture local and national customer specifications and project registrations, working with other districts/branches, sales personnel and Corporate Accounts, as appropriate, to integrate both corporate and field strategies into the overall market approach utilized in the area.

* Work directly with end-users, consultants, engineering companies and architects in providing a high-level of expertise in assisting with the specification of products and solutions to meet customer needs and improve the position of the Company to capture business at an enhanced margin rate.

* Leverage the specialized knowledge gained during the process of specifying and managing a specific project to negotiate and capture future work via Blanket Purchasing Agreements or other types of similar agreements.

* Participate in appropriate professional organizations to enhance lead generation potential and overall reputation and arrange and conduct presentations on products and services to potential accounts.

* Recommend changes to internal and external processes to reduce costs and/or to improve service and present customer needs and concerns to appropriate field and corporate management.

* Attain, or assist location(s) to exceed sales and profit budgets.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:  Level I: Two or more years of responsible sales, marketing, and/or operating experience. Demonstrated history of success in achieving sales objectives. Level II:Four or more years of progressively responsible sales, marketing, and/or operating experience. Demonstrated history of success in achieving sales objectives. Proficient knowledge of Graybar's sales, marketing, and operating processes. Proficient knowledge of Graybar's products and services.

Level III: Six or more year's responsible sales, marketing, and/or operating experience. Demonstrated history of success in achieving sales objectives. Superior knowledge of Graybar's sales, marketing and operating processes. Superior knowledge of Graybar's products and services. 

Level IV:  Typically, eight or more years responsible sales, marketing, and/or operating experience. Demonstrated history of success in achieving sales objectives. Typically, six or more years of experience in increasingly responsible sales or sales related positions. Superior knowledge of Graybar's sales, marketing, and operating processes. Superior knowledge of Graybar's products and services. Fully capable of constructing a customer needs analysis in order to develop and deliver a professional presentation at any level within the customer's organization, including senior management. Capable of reviewing and assessing RFX documentation, recommending a course of action to district management, and composing professional proposal documents. Experience in contract review, assessment, and negotiation from both a basic legal and a thorough business perspective.

Knowledge:  Must be technically competent with continuing emphasis on industry trends and product applications. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Some travel with overnight stays required.
