The primary responsibility of a Sales Trainee is to acquire the necessary aptitude and knowledge of the company, the distribution industry, and Graybar products for future integration into a Sales position within the branch. As a Sales Trainee, the employee can expect to work in various departments throughout the Graybar branch. This exposure is designed to provide a vivid understanding and perspective of the various career opportunities at Graybar through the exposure of the business and products from the "ground floor" and up.
As the Sales Trainee develops a deeper understanding of the business and the products we sell, the Trainee will begin to be provided with a portfolio of customer accounts. The timeframe of the aforementioned is dependent on several factors including the employee's learning aptitude and future branch vacancies. Generally, a Sales Trainee's career path is determined within one to two years.

THE REQUIREMENTS
* Warehousing and Logistics: This entails working as a material handler (receiving, selecting and packing material).
* Counter Sales: This entails customer service to our over-the-counter customers.
* Customer Service Representative: This position entails receiving and placing customer orders, working collaboratively with the sales staff and interaction with Graybar suppliers.
* Quotations, Pricing and Projects: This entails developing competencies regarding cost estimating, cost recoveries, supplier discounts, etc.
* Training sessions and seminars: These programs may be internet based, locally instructor-led, off-site or out of state and are designed to provide an in-depth understanding of Graybar products.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in sales or customer service preferred.
Knowledge: Strong business acumen. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Excellent oral and written communications skills, good presentation skills and the ability to be persuasive are required. Candidates must possess a professional image. Computer knowledge preferred.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE
8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; Some overtime required
